Grand Parade

This event is on February 20, 2016 7:00 pm

Fort Myers High Edison Stadium
to the Fort Myers River District, Downtown

Named as the largest night parade in the Southeast year after year, the Grand Parade is a two-hour extravaganza featuring national participants & local marching bands, floats, local government and law enforcement officials, clowns and much, much more.

The parade brings the entire Southwest Florida community out in celebration of the life and achievements of our local winter resident, Thomas Edison. Spectators come from near and far to enjoy this event and often begin marking their viewing spot weeks in advance!

Although the event is free for spectators, local non-profit groups sell reserved seats and VIP tickets are sold in the Edison Festival of Light office (which include food and beverages). Visit our Tickets Page to find out more!

Be in the Edison Festival of Light Grand Parade!

  1. darla says:

was thinking of putting a float in the parade.. can you tell me if there is a theme besides Edison for the parade.

  2. Christina Payne says:

I have not received anything yet on the parades,ie.. driver meeting- number
Do you know when we will be getting these?

  3. Marissa says:

Can we purchase street seat tickets for the parade at the event? Are tickets required for the centennial park crafts area? Where is recommended parking for the festival?

    • Hi Marissa,
You will want to reach out to the different non-profit organizations listed on our tickets page. Last year they all sold out so we would recommend that you reserve your tickets before hand.
Our events are free to attend this weekend and no tickets are required. Street Seats are optional for Saturday but they are a great value since the groups reserve a seat for you and all you have to do is show up.
Please refer to our parking page for details.

  4. Jim Walker says:

In years past we parked at the City of Palms ballpark parking lot and the floats returned us there. There is no recommendation that I can find of where we should park.

    • Hi Jim,

That is a great question to ask the Parade Marshals at the Grand Parade meeting. They will best be able to direct you to the location that will work best for you.

  5. Pam says:

Is there seating in the stadium? How do we get info about it? Is there a place where we can sit in our own chairs?

    • Hi Pam,

No there is not seating available at the stadium. A few years ago the Parade was switched around so they use the Fort Myers High School Stadium for staging the parade–you will be unable to access it. One of the greatest seats is along Edwards Drive in Downtown! You can purchase a seat for $10 from non-profits listed on our tickets page. They reserve a chair for you so you just have to show up and enjoy the festivities!

    • Hi Tammi,

No, the parade is not televised live. However, it will be replayed in the coming months so look for the schedule to be posted on our website and social media channels so you can catch it on tv!

    • Hi Meia,

No, the event will not stream live. The production company that we use tends to sell DVDs each year of the parades. We will post that information on our website once we have it. In addition, we are trying to build our video library on YouTube so hopefully we will also have the parade available for you to watch there!
